Note to self. When using the bathroom, remember to leave the cat out. I happened to be sitting down on the porcelain this morning when I felt a curious paw reach between the rim of the seat and the crease of my backside. Damn, I thought I had an airtight seal.....

We put the bikes in the basement today, sigh. We'll have to try to get on the Nordic track once in a while, or go over to big fanny (Bally's formerly Vic Tanny, get it?) We did ride about 840 miles this year, and had a great time doing so. Congrats to my honey for sticking with, and occasionally kicking my butt.

Kitty Sweater

Someone decided to try and remove their own stiches after a spay operation and is now sporting a stylish sweater. The doctor used plenty of glue to hold all the sweetness in, and Jazz should be fine as long as she behaves herself.

Jazz is a very soft and sweet little kitty, but very sassy. She is like a monkey in a mink coat!

We rode the Mesabi Trail with Andy and his folks a couple of weeks ago. The ride was very scenic, and 52 miles was plenty long enough. Did I mention climbing 2500 feet of elevation? I'm very proud of Cathy for toughing it out to the end

More Baby Pics

I know, it's too soon, but when our vet called and said she had a kitten we just had to go and see. Of course we took it home. The scruffy little thing turned out to be a little fireball, completely fearless. Our other cat walked up to the baby gate we installed and stared at the interloper, who just looked back, completely unconcerned. This lack of fireworks has us hopeful that they are going to get along.

Bad news, Good news
I'm sorry to say that Peaches passed on about 2 weeks ago, but I was just too tired to post anything at that time. She was a very sweet kitty, and we are sorry that she's gone. The good news is that Dr. Good called and told us that she has another pathetic orphan kitten needing a home. We are going out on Saturday to look at the baby and see if we would like to take it home. I'm pretty sure that's a happening thing, Pam and Cathy are already shopping for a kitten bed...

Today the security department forbade me to ride my scooter in the underground tunnel. This made me really sad. I'm planning to write a letter to the head of the department, but the grumpy people will likely prevail.

What a week! Cathy and I rode our bikes four times, a total distance of 87 miles. Yays to my honey!

It's been a tough year for kitties at our house. Peaches has a tumor in her neck, and probably won't be around for very long. Mercifully, she does not seem to be in any pain, and has been a real sweetie lately. We don't usually let the cats outside, but what the hell, we let Peach out for a while each day. She never used to "talk," but now she cries by the back door to be let out.

Father's Day was awesome, my favorite daughter got me the coolest present!

That was my "card." The scooter is great! I ride it at work through the underground tunnel between the parking garage and the hospital. There have been smiles, jibes, and a couple of odd looks, but no one has told me stop as of yet....

If you require legal advice in Chicago, particularly in the family law areas of divorce, child support or custody, it would be a good idea to speak with Pat Markey at Markeylaw.com

Herbie had a kidney problem, and was losing weight for several months. He hadn't been doing well for about a month, and finally closed his eyes this evening. He was such a sweet boy kitty.

More power Igor, we will bring them to life!
I picked up a couple more cheap strip lights yesterday, so we could start some flats of seeds. It's been a few years since we bothered, but with the relatively warm sunny day spring fever got the best of us...

Milwaukee has great jazz, and as much as I like Jazz in the park, summer is a ways out yet. This weekend I'm going to go see the Terry Sims band again, surely that will ease the winter blues for a while. I like my jazz to come with a bit of funk, have a bit of an urban edge, and smooth out soulfully. Terry and his boys bring it, so I'll brave the cold to hear it.

They finally have a website Terrysimsband
