Can't wait!

It's been a restful weekend, and after being busy at work in addition to getting over a mild virus, a couple of mellow days are welcome.  The sun streaming in on the morning paper helps, as does the fat kitty curled up in the corner.
Feeling a bit rested is fueling our touch of spring fever, Cathy just said that she "can't wait to put on her shorts and ride her bike." I don't know about wearing shorts anytime soon, but we might have our butts in the saddle in as soon as six weeks. If we keep going to the gym the start of the season shouldn't be too traumatic.

Mental health day!

I called in sick today with one of those stealth colds that seems to hang around for weeks, coming and going, annoying as hell. Perhaps yesterday would have been better for me, but I can't do that to the other kids at work. Besides, someone else called in Monday, and that's part of the reason I'm so burnt today. Today will consist of listening to tunes, drinking green tea, and maybe some light laundry later on. There's also some leftover pork which I'll make into fried rice for a nice easy but tasty dinner for my honey.

In case of hot weather, pull this!

We just got our shipment from Alertshirt, and it would seem to have been worth the trouble to order t-shirts from the web. I don't remember where I first came across the site, but saved it, as I am interested in performance clothing at a wally mart price. The shirts look like ordinary cotton tees but are a bit softer, they're made from a polyester fabric which should keep us cooler and dryer in the summer heat. I was pleased with the price, about 8 bucks apiece, but it would be wise to get at least 3 or 4 right away to spread out the shipping charges. the adjusted price was 10 dollars for each shirt, still much cheaper than those fancy cycling jerseys. The colors are fine, though a few more choices would be nice. They have red, blue, white, black, and the two offical glowing safety colors of yellow and orange. No flaming pink though, so more's the pity. If they hold up to normal wear and washing we'll get a bunch more, which should be no problem if they can stand up to a construction worker's abuse.
Enough of that, and back to the training regimen. We went to Big Fanny (Bally's, formerly Vic Tanny) three times last week, and are going twice this week. Cathy is going out with friends Thursday, and I have to work Saturday, so twice will be nice. We're mostly riding the recumbent bikes, and Cat likes to do some lat pulldowns. I'll do some chins and dips but mostly we want to be ready to ride our bikes as soon as the weather will allow. Not bad for a couple of reformed couch potatoes. A quick bit of record keeping for the files: 40 min level 7 cardio hr 145 ave output 125 watts.
Thank you and goodnight.

Refreshing...

Gave myself a facial with Lava soap today, feeling very tingly...
